Janet Scott’s Mother & Father
How you can go wrong!
I searched for my   Great, Great Grandmother Agnes  Scott nee Railton and came up with the wrong one!
It took me one year plus to find the right one and not until I had checked the son’s death certificate did I notice that it was   Agnes Shaw Scott and found her death in 1900.
The   important site for confirmation of the right people!
Once you have searched and you think you have the correct people.
Check the names births and deaths on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk
This site you have to pay £6 for 30 credits and use within 48 hours.  To view  an entry 1 credit to print 5 credits.
BURY YOUR GRANNY AND MOVE TO THE NEXT GENERATION!
Agnes Railton  my Gt. Gt Grandmother 1823-1900
Death Certificate from GRO Site
Agnes Shaw Railton the correct one!
My  Gt Grandmother and Agnes  in the 1881 census.
Janet Boog my Gt Gt Gt Grandmother born 1785
Finally the interesting thing!
The names  of my father
Robert Thomas Scott  are found in a lot of the children’s names of the family that I have searched!
As you can see I’m totally hooked on Genealogy and with 39  first cousins it could be a long project!
THOMAS SCOTT MY GT.GT. GRANDFATHER
SINCE LAST YEAR AFTER MUCH SEARCHING, I HAVE FOUND HIS DEATH IN A POORHOUSE IN SPRINGBURN IN THE GORBALS.
IF A FAMILY MEMBER WAS ILL OR WAS UNABLE TO WORK, THEY HAD TO BE CERTIFIED AS INSANE OR AN ALCOHOLIC TO BE ADMITTED  TO THE POORHOUSE AND FOR THE FAMILY TO GET SUPPORT.
IN THIS CASE HIS WIFE SAID THAT HE WAS INSANE. WE HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING IF THIS WAS TRUE!
THOMAS SCOTT
THOMAS SCOTT MY GT.GT.GRANDFATHER WAS BORN IN 1815 IN NEWBURN IN FIFE.
HE WAS A JOINER TO TRADE.
HE DIED IN 1872 IN THE SPRINGBURN POORHOUSE AGED 57.
